Shop / haakaa colostrum collector
THIS KIT - Includes 5 collectors with 4ml/0.17oz capacity each, 5 labels, 1 black marker, 1 silicone bag, 1 ice pack, 1 package of 10 water wipes, and a brush. With this 40 Weeks After set for colostrum collection, you will get a complete solution! With the pre-sterilized syringes to collect colostrum, you can also store it and then feed the baby directly. The silicone bag can be used to keep the kit together, to store the collectors in the freezer, to transport them to the hospital (with the ice pack), and to sterilize the collectors for reuse. Multiple uses for each item included in this box!
WHAT IS COLOSTRUM - It is your first breast milk, and the one the baby will get during the first days after birth. It is also known as liquid gold because it is perfectly balanced for all your newborn's needs: it contains proteins, antibodies, hormones, vitamins, as well as other developmental factors. This composition will help your baby deal with common circumstances after birth, such as weight loss, hypoglycemia, high bilirubin levels (jaundice), gut functioning, and will even kick-start their immune system. Collecting colostrum is optional, but has been proven to be helpful in a multitude of situations.
COLLECTING COLOSTRUM - Having a colostrum stash will help your newborn get those power nutrients as soon as possible and will also help feed babies in the NICU or babies with difficulties in latching. With the approval of your care provider, you can start collecting colostrum around 36/37 weeks pregnant, starting with a gentle breast manual massage. Colostrum will come out in the form of thick, sticky drops. This is the reason why it is so much beneficial to have small silicone collectors to catch them and store them safely.
40 WEEKS AFTER COLLECTORS - Have a convenient shape, they are the best option to catch those thick, sticky drops of breastmilk. They come individually wrapped and pre-sterilized. Made 100% of soft BPA-free medical-grade silicone, their unique shape allows two ways of collecting: 1- with the nib on, squeeze the collector and suction drops off the nipple, 2- with the top off, express directly into the tube of the collector.
STORE, TRANSPORT, and FEED - After each expression, you can store each labeled collector in the silicone bag in the freezer together with the ice pack to keep them ready to take to the hospital. Once you need to feed the baby, you just take the milk to room temperature and provide it to the baby directly from the collector. Water wipes can be used to clean the nipple while extracting or to clean the baby when feeding him.
CLEAN and REUSE - With the brush included in this kit, you can clean each collector and use the silicone bag to sterilize them in the microwave. Collectors are now ready to be reused!
